Case Study Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Charing Cross Hospital - New Emergency Department September 2019 

 
The Charing Cross Hospital new Emergency Department comprised of the total replacement of all ventilation with two new air handling units, plus two new chillers and connection to the hospitals LTHW circuit in six work phases. 
 
The New Emergency Department now delivers:- 
 
8 bed Resuscitation area 
15 major trauma rooms 
2 mental health rooms 
2 negative pressure rooms 
Dedicated Plaster department 
In addition as per of this refurbishment the electrical infrastructure for the ED department was replaced, consisting of:- 
 
New Generator 
New High Voltage Incomer Changeover panel 
Two new Transformer Distribution Boards 
2 IPS / UPS systems 
 
As the appointed BMS Consultant for the Imperial College Hospital, NDA Consulting are instrumental in delivery of all projects. The challenge for this project was to deliver the refurbishment but maintaining the operational functionality of a working ED Department. NDA Consulting prepared the particular specifications in line with the work phasing, documentation review, including factory and site witnessing through to the final BMS acceptance. 
 
The new department combined a number of independent system monitoring via high level interfaces for the electrical monitoring onto the BMS system along with more traditional control of HVAC plant.
